Clive Coates is a writer, lecturer, and consultant on the wine industry. Coates was a wine merchant for 20 years and an avid lecturer in both the United States and Europe. In 1994, he was appointed a Chevalier de l'Ordre du Merite by the French Government. Coates is the publisher and writer of the magazine, The Vine.
