DEBORAH M. FAIRCHILD is a senior environmental scientist and has been with the Environmental and Ground Water Institute for the past five years. She received a BS in biology and chemistry from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1975. She worked as a chemist for the U.S. Department of Agriculture while obtaining an MS in soil microbiology from West Virginia University in 1979. Since coming to the University of Oklahoma, she has worked on many ground water availability and quality studies focused on petroleum production and agriculture. In addition, she has worked on several environmental impact statements and has served as conference organizer, information and data management specialist, and quality assurance officer for laboratory studies. Her professional activities have resulted in over 30 publications and presentations. In 1985, Ms. Fairchild received the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Oklahoma.
