Dr. Robert A. Catlin is Professor of Urban Planning and Public Policy at the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick. He has been a professional urban planner since 1961, with local governmental positions in Minneapolis, Southern California, Baltimore, Washington, DC, and New York until 1972, when he began an academic career as an assistant professor of urban planning at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He has also held faculty and administrative positions at Georgia Institute of Technology, Indiana University, and the State University of Florida before coming to Rutgers in 1992. Dr. Catlin holds a bachelor's degree in City and Regional Planning from Illinois Institute of Technology, a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from Columbia University and a Ph.D. in American Government from the Claremont Graduate School. In 1978 he became a charter member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
