Carl Thompson is Reader in English Literature and Travel Culture at Nottingham Trent University, where his research interests include Romanticism, travel writing, eighteenth and nineteenth century women's writing, poetry, literature and science and shipwreck narratives. Recent publications include Shipwreck in Art and Literature: Images and Interpretations from Antiquity to the Present Day (editor) (2013) and Travel Writing (2011).
