Hussein T. Mouftah is a distinguished university professor and Tier 1 Canada Research chair in wireless sensor networks in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa. He was previously a full professor and the associate head of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at Queen's University. He has six years of industrial experience, mainly at Bell Northern Research of Ottawa. He is the author or coauthor of 10 books, 71 book chapters, 14 patents, 144 industrial reports, and more than 1,400 technical papers. He has received numerous prestigious awards. Dr. Mouftah is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Canadian Academy of Engineering, Engineering Institute of Canada, and Royal Society of Canada Academy of Science.

Melike Erol-Kantarci is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clarkson University. She is also the director of the Networked Systems and Communications Research Lab. Previously, she was the coordinator of the Smart Grid Communications Lab and a postdoctoral fellow in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Ottawa. She earned her PhD, MSc, and BSc from Istanbul Technical University. During her PhD studies, she was a Fulbright visiting researcher in the Computer Science Department of the University of California, Los Angeles. Widely published and highly decorated, she is an IEEE senior member and the vice-chair of the Green Smart Grid Communications special interest group of the IEEE Technical Committee on Green Communications and Computing.
