Éric Athenot is professor of American literature at Université Paris-Est Créteil. He translated the first-ever French translation of Whitman's 1855 Leaves of Grass .

Cristanne Miller is a SUNY distinguished professor and Edward H. Butler professor of literature at the University at Buffalo in New York. She has written extensively on Dickinson and edited Emily Dickinson's Poems: As She Preserved Them .
