In the dilapidated workshop, three generations conspire against each other for control of the firm. Stephen Jeffreys' play A Going Concern is at once a lament for the passing of an industrial age, a retelling of the classic mythical struggle between fathers and sons and a thoroughly entertaining story. It was first performed at Hampstead Theatre, London, in 1993. Stephen Jeffreys was born in London, England on April 22, 1950. He received a degree in English literature from Southampton University in 1972. He became a playwright. His plays included The Libertine, Lost Land, A Going Concern, and Backbeat. He wrote the screenplay for The Libertine and Diana. He died from a brain tumor on September 17, 2018 at the age of 68. (Bowker Author Biography) |
