This is the first of two projected volumes collecting articles by the distinguished philosopher Stephen Stich. Stich is well known for his influential contributions to the core areas of analytic philosophy (epistemology, and philosophy of mind), but also is held in high regard for his interdisciplinary efforts in cognitive science and moral psychology. This volume contains 17 published key articles in the first category, ranging from the early 1970's to the present. He has included only essays whose claims and arguments he still defends, and also those which have garnered the most attention. Given the high volume of his output and the extent of his influence, this is still a sizeable number of articles. The volume includes a substantial introduction tracing the development of his work.

Stephen Stich is Board of Governors Professor, Philosophy Department, Rutgers University. He is the author of Deconstructing the Mind and Mindreading with Shaun Nichols.
