| Ambassadors in Arms Murphy Thomas D. : Thomas D. Murphy had a distinquished teaching career at the University of Hawai'i. A graduate of Wesleyan University, he received his PhD from Yale University. Before comint to Hawai'i in 1946 as a member of the university's history department and chairman of the Hawaii War Records Committee, he taught at New Haven State Teachers College, the University of Connecticut, and Yale University.
