He grew up in Ecuador, Egypt, Peru and Germany. He studied economics at the University of Bonn and the University of Kent at Canterbury from where he obtained his M.A. in European Economic Integration in 1996. He subsequently began a Ph.D.-programme at the Europa-Kolleg Hamburg, writing his thesis under the supvervision of Prof. Thomas Straubhaar at the Institute of Economic Policy Research of the University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg. |
