He began his career with computer-aided design programs and then went on to the design and development of a comprehensive MRP II system. After many years of product development, he moved to the consulting field and managed consulting practices delivering custom applications. He is currently working with a large services company in the San Francisco Bay area, managing some of their business intelligence and information applications. He has a master's degree in industrial and systems engineering from the University of Illinois. Amitabh Saran is an "ideas" person. He has spent most of his 18 years of professional experience designing and creating successful software products for institutions such as TCS, Philips, NASA, HP, and TriVium. He has been exposed to diverse kinds of systems -- from compilers to networking, from utility billing to banking and finance, and from Web 2.0 to VoIP. Amitabh's technical work has been published in conferences, journals, and books. He holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, with specialization in distributed systems.
